The vampires can eat, drink, and procreate. Their blood-need is a curse only hinted at in this story. What the author does is bring you into the lives of Adeline, Osgar her "found" son, and Lachann or the clan MacNachton. Osgar is an endearing, and very bright boy who speaks older than his five years. Of course, he may easily speak of some adult things but in just a few seconds he plays with his cats, or stones, and twigs as any Highland 5-year old might.

Adeline is a strong, Highland lass, a Healer: which means as long as her village needs what she does, she is tolerated. A witch's death awaits her if/when she is no longer needed.

Lachann is a Highlander from a very strong, and united clan that wants their numbers to survive. That is being threatened. Lachann is away from the fortress that protects the MacNachtons looking for "The Lost Ones" children whose parents were MacNachton. Unfortunately for many the result was a grim one.

A good story but mostly forgotten by me by the time I reached the end. Juliet and Victor are on the fringes of the main vampires in the Guardians of Eternity series.

I love Hannah Howell books she has a way of hooking you in and keeping you there. I have read all of her books and own all of them I would recommend anything she writes.
Wonderful collection of my favorite authors.
I'm getting to the point that I like anthologies but won't love them. They're a nice jump start but I like a full meat story.
I did enjoy Alexandra Ivy's Levet as I always do. Has was his snarky self in the couple pages he appeared in in TAKEN BY DARKNESS. He really made the read for me.

I love all the Guardians of Eternity Books, and this was no exception.

For a different story, the one with Osgar is really great. I love this, gives you a taste of different series. I absolutely love Osgar, the vampire child! I re-read the Osgar book. I so wish it could have been longer. Such a good and proper lad. The things he says in here had me in complete awe.
I only bought this collection for the Alexandra Ivy story as that is the series I am currently reading. I quite enjoyed it. It gave interesting tidbits of information about one of my favorite characters in the series and smaller ones about another character. My only problem with collections like this is that they are only formatted with demarcations separating each story and not within each story as I'd prefer. I also wish that with things like this collection you could tell Shelfari that you only read a part of the collection. I can't add it to my page count on Shelfari because it would count the whole collection, which I may never read completely. If you love the "Guardians of Eternity" series, I think you should really read this story of hers. It's fun and quick. I don't think you'll be disappointed, so have at it!
This just like most ALL Hanna Howell's book are fantastic. Her on going short story's about the MacNachton (sp) clap from the very begining grabed me & has just hooked me into wanting ALL the storie's about that I can get. & I'm NEVER disapointed in them. Then there are the next two story's in the books that come with Hanna's storie & they all give me a different taist of another person's veiw on a vampier's life & how they find thier "mates" & I have on;y been disappointed a few times with a storie but it never over shadow's my love for hanna's Highlander's of Scotland. It also helps her storie's that I have a slight obsesion with Scotlands historie & the way the lived. & the only reson for that is it is one of the seacret's that my g.grandfather tried to take to his grave in a time that being Scot in America was like being a begger on the street. However. this book as well as allher others about this paticular clan will be in my librairy & read over & over again through the resy of my life. Thank you Hanna. SF in Westminster, Co.
