She’s dead.
Samantha, her wavy caramel-colored hair, her little Bambi eyes, her angel face…dead.
I killed her.
Sure, I didn’t crush her skull and bash her brains in. The telephone pole did that. The drugs did that. The other car’s high beams did that.
But I killed her.
She had just said I love you. She said she missed me. She was coming to spend the night. She was high. She asked for a ride.
I was lazy.
But what if there was a way to save her? What if there was a way to send back a warning? What if there was a way to undo it all? The crash. Us. Falling in love. All the way back to the beginning.
What if there was a machine?

I enjoyed this book very much. I love time travel paradox stories and this author made one so complex and fascinating that I had to occasionally stop to figure things out in my head - but once I got there, it always made sense and left me deeply impressed with the author. This is the first of three books in the series (so far) and all of them are worth checking out if you are a fan of time paradoxes.Product details

A Strange Machine Timeloopers Book 1 eBook Dan Rix Reviews
This is a really good book that I highly recommend! The characters are interesting and it easily kept my interest. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! I would think the story was going in one direction and then it would end up somewhere else. Very entertaining.
This book was a little bit harder to get into compared to Dan's other books. I really liked the story line, I can not wait for the next installment! Leaving us with a huge cliffhanger. This book was not as complicated as some others, it was easier to follow. Of course there are a lot of questions that need answered and I am eagerly waiting for them in the next book. As I have said before, all of his books transport you and you feel as thought you're in them.
This is captivating, easy flowing and yet mentally challenging book to read. After reading several of Dan Rix's books, I was very interested in this one and gladly accepted an advance copy in exchange for my review. The story line flows easily, the characters are well fleshed out and understandable (as understandable as any actions and motivations among high-school students can be...), and the underlying subject matter, time looping, is fascinating. It takes some mental gymnastics to wrap one's head around the concept, but that is what makes the book a five-star read. Once you "get" time looping, you become consumed by the book. Wanting more and leaving your own life for the hours that you are engulfed in the world of the Chronos machine.
Wonderful Read! Once again the only let down from Dan Rix was leaving me hanging. LOL He has a way of leaving me wanting more. A Strange Machine was brilliantly written. The characters are so well defined that they pull you into a situation that you know can't exist and each character does their part in explaining how this machine works, then they show you just how much they can do with it and suddenly you understand and see all of the possibilities that could be in our technology. You will absolutely become a believer. Stephen King's early books use to terrorize me. He made me scared of every day normal things like cars, dogs, cats, heavy machinery and little towns in Maine. Dan Rix is now quickly becoming the master of what technology could be in the distant future! It is truly frightening and makes for a most excellent read! I don't want to say to much and give it away. No spoilers from me. I have read and enjoyed all of his books and He only gets better & better. This book is an awesome read and as always, I can't wait for the next one!
I received a copy for reviewing purposes.
Let me just say, first off, Dan is one of my favorite authors! That being said let my review commence. I'm not great at reviews and all I am ever able to state is my feelings for the book, so no spoilers, no book info really but a dang good feeling review!
So, this book made me feel like I was back in highschool, these kids made me wanna scream or cry and pull my hair out.
But that is what made this story so dang real, I could see myself in this story, messing with this machine. I swore I got goosebumps every time something went wrong or went crazy.
I have so many mixed feelings about Dante and Cory, I wanna root for Dante because he is that sexy, rugged bad boy, and Cory is a preppy jerk. But I wanna root for Cory because he's deep down in his heart a sweet kid and I think he really feels strongly for Samantha.
So as usual, Dan did it again! He wrote a book that pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole read. I am already looking forward to #2!
Read this book, and all of Dan's other books, it's money well spent and time well spent with your nose buried in an amazing book.
Thanks again for an amazing book!
Looking to read the second book of the series. Dan Rix has some really good books out there to read.
I simply could not set down this book (in version) once I launched into it! It is totally conversant with the tip of the burning point of current youth culture -- the language, the idioms, the interests, the latest developments. To say nothing of spitze technology! My emotion was gripped by the warm, passionate and sensitive love of the protagonists, and the gross, exploitative phoniness of the "love" of the villains. My intellect was fully engaged and attained orbit on a high level of scientific, philosophical, and romantic thought. Great book. An absolute must. A threshold burner!
