Okay, I liked this one a lot. The hero was raised to hide his feelings and the heroine was raised to be the perfect diplomatic wife who hides her emotions as well. Considering this, it is of NO surprise that neither one knows the other loves them nor can they show it well. I think a lack of communication was their BIGGEST issue as well as the assumptions made by the hero. He would come to the conclusion she did not want him because of another man and then would cut off her explanation and say hurtful things in defense. His defensive words made me sad for the heroine because she was trying to show her love in the only way possible. Looking back after the hero's explanation of the ways he thought he was showing the heroine his feelings, I can see it. He only had his stepmother and his dad as examples of a relationship and theirs was not a good one to follow or to take love advice from!! I am glad that the mom and dad got back together but am mad that it took the dad over 2 decades to get his lazy rear up and get her back. While she was in misery about not being with the man who she loved and was by herself, the dad has had mistresses over the years and that was from his son's point of view that the reader learns this. I have no respect for the dad. He ruined everyone's lives!!!! He had an affair after marrying the mom because of guilty feelings of being in love with her so soon after his beloved ex-wife's death. Instead of begging for forgiveness, he lets her divorce him and tells his younger sons that the men in his family only love once and tells his oldest to hide his emotions because they give him a weakness that can be exploited. Well, he left his ex-wife alone for all this time, knowing she loved him, he almost let his two younger sons ruin their relationships with the loves of their lives by listening to their dad's only love once speech, and almost cost his oldest son his wife because he did not know how to show her the depth of his feelings. Like I said, I have no respect for the dad and he is the reason all the boys have romance issues. I did really like the hero. Once he realized that she never knew about his feelings and never took his ways of showing her as anything other than an obligation to check on her, he tried to fix it. He wanted her above all else but was afraid of his feelings not being returned. I do not understand that as much because he stated that she used to look at him like he hung the sun and stars but now did not. He obviously knew she had loved him at one point and is scared she had stopped so therefore does not want to put his own feelings out there to get refused. They were a great couple though and I like the aspect of them already being married. It makes the story longer and I was better able to enjoy the here and now of their relationship instead of having non-stop flashbacks that take away for the present issues.Tags : The Scorsolini Marriage Bargain [Lucy Monroe] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. I have the hard copy but I wanted the edition this is a really good story. It touched on a subject many women suffer with and it had a really sweet ending.
This has to be one of the best ending to a trilogy that i have read, and the fact that the author was dealing with a issue that women faces made it more special...
DO NOT let this discourage you from reading this book because you would have to read the ending to know how it ends won't spoil it for you....
Reading alittle about both heroe and herione in the pervious brothers books were so hyped up that it was worth the wait I think Lucy Monroe did an excellent job on all 3 books and hope she contiunes to do so in the future with harlequin presents..
I choose this book because I love to read about alpha males. I am a fan of Lucy Monroe her book draw my emotions. I would recommend it to family and friends
Claudio seems a little out of touch with his feelings for his wife, but his upbringing explains a lot. In truth, he is in love with his wife but lets his impending promotion to king dictate too much of his life. I liked how solicitous he became of her well-being once he realizes she suffers from endometriosis.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would give it 10. I have almost a dozen books from this author and this one is by far the best. As usual the hero is a guy who starts out as idiot who doesn't know the difference between his heart and his foot, but he totally makes up for it at the end. There are a few points where the story drags because there is so much internal dialogue with the heroine, but it's important to creating the story. This book made me cry, laugh and shout out loud to cheer on the characters and their happy ending. Please, please, please read this one.
It is one of my favorites. Just the right mix of story and thought as the two main characters grow together and learn to open up and share with one another. Showing how important communication really is to a relationship. I loved T and C. They were so good together and the way he handled her sickness once he became aware of it was so loving. Great story.
I like Ms. Monroe's books very much. This one is good, but not her best. I'll not go into the story line the other commentators have already done an excellent job doing so. My problem is I found the heroine in this book rather stupid. Instead of being up front with the hero, she deliberately hid something very important, her health, because of LOVE??. This just made the problem worse. The hero was not a mean spirited man as some others are portrayed in love stories; just very busy. Actually Michelle Reid did pretty much this same story in a 5 star book called "The Sheikh's Chosen Wife". It's a far better read. I will continue to read Ms. Monroe. Every author has at least one so...so book.
