This is not a book for a novice reader. The beginning is very descriptive while parts 2, 3 and 4 are more interactive. Such a descriptive style would appeal to very “seasoned readers” who love creativity and innovation. The end of the story gave clarity to some of the issues at the beginning, however, the switched characters and the diary entries were a little challenging to understand. The story seemed more focused on the experience of a warrior and not the war experience. “The Puzzling Reflections and Experience of a Female Warrior: The Eyes of Mikra” may have served as a stronger title and broadened the appeal to a wider audience for a less intense reading experience.

There is not much about the actual war experience, which would be generally expected. An in-depth explanation of war or war experiences would be empowering. The book leaned more to the analysis of deep thoughts and experiences giving rise to those deep thoughts. Hence, adjusting the title to encompass a reflective inner perspective would have given greater guidance to the reader’s approach.

Strong areas of the book included the suspense depicted through the human phenomenon of deception and betrayal. It gave a hidden perspective of the fickleness and lack of commitment humans can exhibit, especially today and as consequences of war. The invincibility of the girls as fighters and the ability to go to great lengths in a war was reflected through the use of nukes, demonstrated a strong extremist approach in solving conflicts.

I would reiterate that the title could have been reflective of the content of the story, especially as the name of a book has a large effect on its marketing appeal. I strongly recommend the second part or possibly a series to maximize on the many aspects presented and building on the great stories from the first book.

Fascinating and absorbing tale of a world completely outside of the one in which I live. Mesmerizing tale from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Boring....
This was a creative little tale. Very descriptive in its execution, this memoir covering war-torn lands and its people was captivating with respect to the journey it carries the reader through. It has a clever reveal element, adeptly handled, and will keep you engaged to the very last page.
This is a wonderful novel that I completely enjoyed reading. Isvari is a very talented young author. This is her first novel. She has a wonderful aura about her. How can a 17 year old girl (at the time of writing. Now 18), have such a great sense of how it is to be in a war. That is one of the reasons I was so captivated and savored every word of The Eyes of Mikra.
I am looking forward to reading her next novel.
I just finished reading Isvari Mohan’s new book “The Eyes of Mikra.” As this mysterious heroine and her story unfold your mind becomes overwhelmed with the views within the narrative. Readers of many genres and subject niches will not put down this page-turner. It becomes a chronicle of past histories, the world we live in, and what the future may become. The author uses sniper precision to describe what could be, but is far from, a sort of fantasy/sci-fi world. She brings together determined espionage with the historical significance of war, including some off-the-edge realisms and portrayals. Just like any good spy does, the story will weave a sense of, false, security in your mind. As the books pages in our right hand get thinner, the plot thickens proportionately from beginning to end. The mystery finally unfolds in an explosive climax, with you looking through, and tearing with, the eyes of Mikra. Benjamin Pinto
